1.2 describe the common features shown by eukaryotic organisms: plants, animals, fungi and protoctists

Eukaryotic: Organisms containing a nucleus

Plants:
- Multicellular
- Stores carbohydrates as starch
- Cells contain chloroplasts, carry out photosynthesis
-  Cell walls made of cellulose

Animals:
- Multicellular
- Stores carbs as glycogen
- Don't contain chloroplasts, no photosynthesis
- No cell walls

Fungi:
- can be both uni/multicellular
- Stores carbs as glycogen
- Chitin cell walls
- Organised into mycelium: thread-like structures called Hyphae, which contain many nuclei
- Saprotrophic nutrition

 Protoctists:
- Microscohic unicellular organisms
- e.g. amoeba, chlorella
