4.14 understand how human activities contribute to greenhouse gases

Carbon Dioxide: Humans release carbon dioxide in car exhausts, industrial processes, and fossil fuel combustion. Deforestation also increases carbon dioxide levels as fewer trees will be able to carry out photosynthesis to exchange carbon dioxide to oxygen.

Methane: Can be naturally produced from rotting plants in marshlands. Rice growing and cattle rearing also cause the release of methane.

Nitrous oxide: Released naturally by bacteria in soils and the ocean. It is also released from fertilizers and vehicle engines.

CFCs: CFCs are chlorofluorocarbons, which are man-made chemicals that once used in aerosol sprays and fridges.
