2.75B describe ultrafiltration in the Bowman’s capsule and the composition of the glomerular filtrate

Ultrafiltration: When blood enters the Glomerulus in high pressure and components are filtered to produce Glomerular Filtrate.

Process:
-Renal Artery carries oxygenated blood to Bowman’s Capsule under high pressure. (Blood carried by arteries are always under high pressure, such as the pulmonary artery)
-Pressure further increases in the Glomerulus due to thinner tubes, and components are filtered and forced out of blood to produce Glomerular Filtrate: Water, Salts, Glucose and Urea.

Components of Glomerular Filtrate:

Salts
Loop of Henle
Glucose
Proximal convoluted tubule
Water
Collecting duct
Urea
NOT REABSORBED
