2.59 describe the composition of the blood: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma

Red Blood Cells:
-transport oxygen from lungs to respiring cells for aerobic respiration.

White Blood Cells:
-Phagocytes: Engulf and digest pathogens
-Lymphocytes: Produce antibodies and antitoxins to deactivate antigens of bacteria.

Plasma:
-carries carbon dioxide, digested food, urea, hormones, heat. (2.60 will have a deeper explanation on the role of plasma!)

Platelets:
-cell fragments that helps with blood clotting

Blood consists of: 55% plasma, 45% red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
